1. Thanks to everyone who made Water Awareness Month (WAM!) a HUGE success!
Warren College decreased water consumption by 35% compared to last November! Campus-wide water-savings totals coming soon!
Although Water Awareness Month is over, we have only started conserving water on campus! It is not too late to sign the pledge and reduce not only your own water footprint, but also support the 12 Step Plan to raise campus water standards including phasing out of bottled water throughout campus!
Warren College was chosen as a test pilot for online automated water meter readings–see the tournament standings between buildings here. Warren saved 876,807 gallons of water compared to last November! So far this year, UC San Diego’s consumes an average of 1.2 million gallons of water per day.
It only takes one housemate to influence a whole suite of water users by modeling sustainable behavior. Take shorter showers, if it is yellow, let it mellow, use reusable bottles, or save gray water! There are many ways to conserve water and many opportunities for change.
