Hiya and thanks for visiting,
Sorry it's taken so long to reply to your questions...
Step 1)
How do I get the swf into the gadget?
> Log into your account
> click the 'edit page' button on the top right of the page
> left click anywhere on gadget and then the 'properties' link which appears in the popup
> another popup should appear
> in the 'url to swf (required)' check-box is where you put the link to your swf file. i.e. '
https://sites.google.com/site/gethemessparkle/sparkle_bannerv2.swf'
Step 2)
Where can I store the swf for free in order for the gadget to get it?
> Click on the 'More actions' drop down menu
> click 'Manage site' link
> click 'Attachments' link on left hand side of the page
> click the 'Upload' button at the top
> then click 'Choose File' and navigate to where your swf file is on your hard drive.
> Once you have selected your file, upload it and it should appear on the page.
Now here's where it get's a little tricky. What you want to do is
extract the raw url to the file you uploaded but there is usually a
lot of extra code when using the 'view' or 'download' links.
So what I've found is the easiest way to get the url is to... (this
example is for the google chrome browser but the same should apply to
other browsers)
> right click the 'view' link
> select the 'copy link address' option in the dropdown menu
> now if you go back to the last step in step 1, you can paste (ctrl+v) the link you now have in your paste board into the "url to swf" check-box. In this case it is '
https://sites.google.com/site/sparklegadgettest/sparkle_bannerv2.swf?attredirects=0'
but you need to delete the '?attredirects=0' at the end of the url.
How can I change the font at the bottom of the gadget?
You can't, it is actually in the FLA file. Which is the raw flash file
I created to save the swf file.
Can I make the swf autoplay?
Yes, although this is done in the FLA file.
Those are the primary questions. It would be great if you could give
quick steps on creating the swf also. or a site to redirect me. Thanks
Here is the tutorial I used (I think) to create the header,
http://layersmagazine.com/flash-slideshow-image-gallery.html
I'll upload the FLA file that I created for the header as well.
Cheers
