How can i edit an already-made theme?

I like the political theme offered by Google as it suits my purpose.
But I can insert my own logo. Have a look at my site:
https://sites.google.com/a/qnu.edu.vn/jontran.
It seems that the rectangular behind is part of the background. What
should I do to get rid of it?

Hi mate, your site seems to be hidden from public viewing so I'm not
quite sure what can be done to help.

You need to make the site public by Loggin into your site and then
going to:
More Actions >> share this site
It should look something like in this picture:

You need to make sure the Advanced Permissions Section is ticked as
shown in the picture.
