Sprint EVO Gingerbread, Gesture search 1.4.1

Today I was using Gesture search to find a contact named, "Sean". I
have two contacts with that first name and different last names. GS
would not show either. I re-indexed GS and double checked the contacts
to see that "Sean" was in the first name slot with the last name in
it's slot. Both confirmed. These contacts pre-exist my GS
installation.

I added a new contact, "Sean Fake" and re-indexed and tried that, no
score for "Sean" or "Fake" in GS though I can find the contact in
People with either search word.

Now, as I check, if I draw the letter "S" I get a small number of
contacts with "S" in them, clearly not my whole list of even names
starting with "S" much less all the contacts with "S".

From there I decided to experiment with phone numbers. Writing
7035551212 will initially bring up the 703 numbers (my area code) and
the "5"'s will start to bring up other phone numbers with "5" in them
but as I get more specific it inevitably craps out and gives me
nothing. Frequently it seems to misinterpret clear numbers. A clearly
drawn "3" in a sequence will eliminate numbers with a "3" in them.

Found the solution to missing contacts. Every contacts should have in
the "My Contacts" group too in gmail!

Xperia, x10 mini; 2.1; Gesture Search version 108 (1.4.1)

It is the same here. It worked perfectly!
I want to use it today and it can't find most of the contacts with it.
Tried reindexing, uninstall, install again, clear the caches, but it
can't find most of the contacts.
When I reindexing it seems to be too fast then before.
Please fix this.

HTC Incredible S
Android 2.3.3 - build 2.30.405.1
Gesture Search 1.4.1

I also have many contacts not found.
- 300+ contacts subgroups - none in the main "My contacts"
- It will find contacts from all of the subgroups, just misses out on
many of them
- I can't see any logical explanation why one would, and the next
would not be found (alphabetically, order of adding them, sort of
information in them)

- Reindexing didn't help
- Setting to only search contacts and uncheck all the rest - then
reindex didn't help
- Adding them to the main "My contacts" in Gmail and then sync my
phone - reindex GS also didn;t work
- Even switched my phone language to English: didn't expect much and
didn't get much;)
- They are found with the normal search in contacts.

Drawing CH will get me Chris and lots of other names with CH + many
others, but it skips Charlie. If I try to continue writing his full
name it just comes up with nothing anymore.

I love the gesture search though, I will keep using it, and hope this
will be fixed.
I will perhaps play a bit more with it to see if I can find what the
missing contacts have in common.

It would be nice if the reindexing shows number of indexed items
instead of percentages.

BTW: Double flips works on the Incredible if I set it to most
sesitive;)

This is also my problem.
I have a contact with a full name, and a nickname "Mom".
Are nicknames searched?

Search by phone number is very strange, leaving out MANY contacts.

[Earlier, I wrote:]

I found the secret: Use spaces. Do not use country prefixes.

Thus numbers entered with his format work fine:
9999
999 9999 or
999 999 9999
But my experiments show that the following do
no:
9999999
9999999999 or
1 999 999 9999

Found this:

"Currently, Gesture Search only searches contacts that have a phone
number. Is this the case for those contacts that didn't show up? "

And indeed, I added the phone nr as the email field because the distinction is not really visually clear. And indeed, once my contact had a phone nr the issue was solved.

Hope this helps, Tom

2.0 also indexes contacts that don't have a phone number, if you turn on indexing for all the contacts.... Does Gesture Search show any contacts when you search?

It does not find ANY of my contacts on my Galaxy Nexus, despite reindexing.
Pulled out my old Nexus One, and it worked perfectly

Is this a problem with specific devices?
