Dear Speed Speedskaters and Families,

I hope this letter finds you well and excited for the upcoming season! As we gear up for another year of thrilling practices and exhilarating races, we want to provide some important information about our practice schedule for the upcoming season.

New Time (Same Day) for Ice:

We learned in July that the rink was changing our practice time on Sunday.  After many years of having Sunday afternoon practices, this season our practice times will be on ice 9:10 AM to 11:10 AM.

We understand that this change might require some adjustment to your weekend routines.  It will also require us to coordinate race weekends more carefully so we will be asking folks to commit to races earlier so we can plan for which Sundays we have ice and which we don’t.

Additionally, we need to know if families prefer doing our off ice portion of the sessions before or after the ice portion.  With a 9:10 on ice time, we need to begin the off ice portion at 8am.  If we do the off ice after the ice session, skaters need to be at the rink by 830 for the warm uo (this can not be skipped, ice is too expensive to do a complete warm up on the ice).  We welcome your input to know which start time you prefer.

Silver Skates Date:

In other exciting news, we have secured ice for our Annual Silver Skates meet for Sunday October 22nd from 8am-4pm.  Stay tuned for more information about how you can help make this year’s meet a great success.

First Day of Practice:

Please plan on meeting up with your coaches and teammates at the rink on Sunday September 10 at 8:30 am.  Come prepared to do an off-ice workout outside, and bring ALL of your skating gear (cut suit if you own one, skating skin, skates, helmet, gloves, neck guard, ankle guards, skate guards, tools for adjusting skates (if you own them).

New Team App:

This season we will be transitioning from Team App to TeamSnap.  TeamSnap is used by other clubs in the area so transitioning will make it easier for skaters who participate in multiple practices to be able to easily find information about those opportunities.  More information will be provided on the first day of ice.

.

Equipment Needs:

Has your skater(s) grown over the summer?  No worries, we can help you with equipment needs at our first practice.  Bring any equipment that no longer works for you and we can help fit you for new equipment.

Registration and payments:

Watch your email for information about registration and fees.  Thankfully our ice costs have remained the same this year so we anticipate the fees to remain similar to last year.

Best regards,

Your Coaches and Board
