Mass Start (Pack) Demo Races at the US Long Track Olympic Trials earlier this week on Jan 4, 2018

43 skaters turned out at the Trials (including 7 from Glen Ellyn and 2 from Park Ridge) to skate under the bright lights in prime time in a packed house to treat the sellout crowd to a taste of pack (mass start) racing excitement and preview what they are going to see the Olympic Trials racers do tonight when they compete for 2 spots for both the men and women to go the Olympics in the Mass Start event!

Here are some results and pics from the demo below. The event made the front page of yesterday's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel! See attached!

The 43 skaters raced in three groupings by age and ability in a mixed gender format. The skaters represented 9 clubs and came from 4 states, with the majority being local - 21 from Illinois and 20 from Wisconsin. The skaters ranged in age from 6 to 18.
