Hello Skaters, Parents, and Friends of GESS:
This email covers GESS festivities for July 4:
- Glen Ellyn parade, GESS club marches behind Grand Marshall Ethan Cepuran. You can also inline!
- BBQ/get-together at Coach Elise's house afterward.
July 4 Glen Ellyn Parade
As many of you know, GESS alumni and 2022 Olympic bronze medalist Ethan Cepuran is a Grand Marshall in this year's Glen Ellyn July 4th parade. Because of this, GESS has the opportunity to march (or inline!) right behind him. We encourage everyone to join us for the parade, and show spectators our club spirit.
When: We will gather at our designated staging spot between 10:30-11:00. We have been assigned area #57 on Lake Road North as indicated in dark green on the attached map.
How: You can either walk with other GESS members, or wear your inline skates and skate along with the parade. If you are going to inline, you MUST wear protective gear, including a helmet. Everyone, please wear a red t-shirt, preferably a red Silver Skates t-shirt if you own one. We recommend you bring water, as the parade lasts a while.
July 4 GESS BBQ
After the parade Coach Elise has invited everyone to her house (
[209 N Main St, Glen Ellyn] ) for a backyard BBQ. Elise will provide grilled food and buns, but please sign up here to bring a dish to share. It's a wonderful opportunity to relax and get to know each other outside of a chilly ice rink! We invite you to join us even if you did not participate in the parade.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions. I have also started a July 4 chat channel in Team App if you want to use that to communicate.
We hope to see you on the fourth!
Gretchen Hower
