The phone connects without any problems to the PTV3000 but than regular screen freezes start to appear (sometimes immediately after connecting, sometimes its ok for few minutes and then these freezes suddenly start to occur). No matter whether I play a video or just browse photos. The mirrored screen on the TV freezes at regular intervals - every 3-4 seconds the screen freezes for about 2 seconds. These freezes appear only on the TV not on the screen of the phone.
The strange thing is that these freezes dont appear when mirroring the screen of my laptop or of my older Xperia Z1 Compact using the same Netgear PTV3000. This problem only occurs on the new Z3 Compact. I already tried to hard reset the phone, but it didnt help. I also tried to change the channel and bandwith on my Asus router, but this also dint solve the problem (I didnt expect that it would help as the older Z1C and laptop can mirror the screen on the same network without any problems, but anyway I tried). Did somebody else face this problem when mirroring the screen of the Xperia Z3 Compact, is there any solution? The phone is running on Android Lollipop 5.0.2, currently there is no update available for my phone. Is there a chance that an update will fix it?
I received a message from Netgear support. They have connected an Xperia Z3 Comapct to their PTV3000 and they also have the same issue with this phone. I would like to know whether the Z3C has the same problem with other Miracast adapters?
I'm having a similar problem with an Xperia XA2. Every 15 minutes the video on the TV freezes while the phone video continues. I need to restart the miracast session, which means stopping my video application. The feature is virtually useless.
On your second device, open in the web browser. Copy the 6 digit ID from into the Desktop App, press CONNECT and select the virtual second screen. If you do not have a dummy display adapter at hand, here is a workaround: If your Laptop/PC is connected to an external screen, just connect the external screen twice with two cables, for example with HDMI and Display Port at the same time. This will create a virtual second screen and you can proceed with step 2. Roku devices cannot be "cast" to without a network connection. They aren't capable of a peer to peer connection. You have to have a WiFi network with both devices connected to the same network for screen mirroring to work.
You ask a question and then declare there's no assistance within a matter of hours? Yes, Roku has poor tech support. But what you're asking is more to do with how to screen mirror your phone, which isn't really a tech question for Roku to answer. At least give it a day for a response. And while it's possible to screen mirror onto a Roku, that's not what they were designed for. It's simply an add-on feature beyond their designed usage.
You dont need your Roku connected to a WiFi SSID (e.g. connected to your modem/gateway/router's WiFi) to screen mirror (using Miracast) on Roku (or any other device for that matter) - it can/does use WiFi Direct for Miracast sessions.
However, the Miracast receiver app (Rokucast) needs an internet connection to download/install/update (for first time use/at least once), and otherwise may give you an error if there is no network/internet connection at time of use after that.
