Visiting Day Recap and Thank You

Hello All,
I am E-mailing you all to give a recap of Visiting Day, as well as to thank Julie Berger for setting up our meeting with Gesher, thank others for your support saying you will donate, and a special thank you to Jen Adler and Ben Berliner for coming to speak with me on “the porch.” Okay, now the recap:
Ben Berliner, Jen Adler, and I spoke to the current Gesher about Mike and Andy and “The Gesher Fund.” We told their story, what they meant to us as friends, talked about their impact on camp, Ben and I spoke about visiting Har Hertzl and Mike’s grave, etc. Jen spoke about how lucky we were to go to camp for as many summers as we did, as well as the current Gesher, and what their lives would have been like without being able to go to camp. She mentioned that this Gesher has the opportunity to give other less fortunate kids the opportunity to go to camp.
We also pumped up the Thanksgiving Event for when they turn 21, and their parents were there, so we mentioned that we would recommend an $18 donation to “The Gesher Fund,” upon graduation from Gesher, or whatever they can give.
We also said that we were starting this tradition this year, and we hope to make it an annual tradition of at least one member from our Edah going up on Visiting Day each year and speaking to the current Gesher. So, consider this a one year “heads up” to everyone to try and come up for Visiting Day next year and speak. I will try to make it every year, assuming I’m in the area and don’t have any major conflicts.
Having said all of that, I’m encouraging all of you to donate on an annual basis if you don’t already. I personally make a $200 donation every year, but I recommend at least $50 or whatever you can give, (even $18 would be good), and to make that commitment every year to continue growing the fund and to eventually start giving kids the ability to go to camp every year that would not normally have that opportunity (I believe we are still growing the fund and we haven’t given out any scholarships yet-Julie you can correct me on that if I’m wrong, as well as update our total in there since you do some work for camp). Under “designation,” select “Gesher Scholarship Fund,” which is about halfway down the list of approximately 40-50 different funds. Feel free to write a nice note about Mike, Andy, or both, and you will most likely get a nice thank you note from their parents! Okay, this E-mail has been long enough.
