Hello Neighborhood Leaders,

Please share the following information with your residents.

City Closures and Cancellations
Out of an abundance of caution, City facilities will be closed Wednesday, January 28, including the Great Hall & Conference Center, Germantown Community Library and Germantown Performing Arts Center. City Hall will be closed to the public, though non-essential staff will work remotely. Customer Service remains available at (901) 757-7200. The Germantown Athletic Club will be open on Wednesday, January 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with limited services.

Several meetings have been rescheduled, including Transportation Planning Open Houses, the Cameron Brown Park Enhancement Plans meeting and the Industrial Development Board. GPAC's performance of On Stage with Iris Collective featuring Vijay Gupta, scheduled for Thursday, January 29, has been postponed. Updated dates are available at Germantown-TN.gov/Calendar.

Trash Collection (Wednesday Route)
Due to hazardous road conditions and the closure of the Quad County Landfill, Wednesday trash collection has been canceled. Service is scheduled to resume for these customers on Wednesday, February 4, weather permitting.

School Closures
GMSD and MSCS are closed Wednesday due to unsafe travel conditions.

Road Conditions and City Response
Road conditions across Germantown remain hazardous. According to the Germantown Police Department, Poplar Avenue and Germantown Road are the only roadways with a semi-passable lane in both directions, and even those areas contain patches of unseen ice that make travel dangerous. All other roads remain very slick and have resulted in numerous stranded motorists and crashes. Tow truck response times are extremely delayed due to conditions. GPD will continue posting road condition updates around 5 a.m., noon and late afternoon.

As temperatures rise above freezing today, Public Works crews are continuing targeted snow and ice removal, focusing on intersections, priority routes, hills and business access points where safety risks are greatest. Crews are also removing snow berms and treating problem areas to improve stopping and starting conditions as melting begins.

Residents are strongly urged to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. Conditions remain dangerous, especially on neighborhood streets and improvements will take time as crews work through priority areas.
