Hello Neighborhood Leaders,

Please share the following information with your residents.

Germantown Police report that primary corridors, including Poplar Avenue and Germantown Road, are generally drivable with only isolated slick spots.

However, side streets continue to present challenges. Farmington Boulevard, from Wolf River Boulevard to Exeter Road, remains difficult to navigate due to overnight refreezing of melted snow and ice. Public Works crews have prioritized these areas for treatment.

As temperatures rise, Public Works reports continued progress and expects road conditions to gradually improve. Residents are reminded that another cold front with extreme cold temperatures is expected this weekend, which may complicate ongoing clearing efforts.

City Closures and Cancellations
City Hall and the Germantown Athletic Club will be open to the public on Friday, January 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The following City facilities will remain closed on Friday: the Germantown Community Library, the Great Hall & Conference Center and the Germantown Performing Arts Center.

Several meetings and events have been rescheduled. Updated dates are available at Germantown-TN.gov/Calendar.

Trash Collection (Friday Route)
The City recognizes that residents on the Friday trash route have experienced multiple service disruptions, including the MLK holiday and the winter storm. We understand the inconvenience this has caused and appreciate everyone’s patience.

Due to the continued closure of the Quad County Landfill, trash collection for Friday, January 30 has been canceled. City staff remain in close communication with Waste Pro to determine how service can resume once the landfill reopens.

If the landfill is able to reopen on Saturday, January 31, Waste Pro will run the Friday route and collect trash and recycling only. Yard waste will not be collected that day. All trash, recycling and yard waste services are expected to resume on a normal schedule next week.

An additional update will be shared with Friday-route residents by 5 p.m. tomorrow evening.

School Closures
GMSD and MSCS will remain closed Friday due to extreme cold and unsafe travel conditions.
