Hello Neighborhood Leaders,

Please share this important information, including the attached flyer, with your residents:

** The City's Thrive Germantown 2050 Comprehensive Plan process has started! On Thursday, May 7, join us for a Community Kick-Off Open House from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (drop in anytime) at the Germantown Community Library. At this interactive event, learn more about the planning process and share your input on community issues and opportunities. Everyone is encouraged to attend and provide their thoughts and ideas. Please see the attached flyer for more information, which includes a QR code for those who can't make it.

Additionally, we encourage you to complete the Community Questionnaire. It contains questions about important issues and opportunities facing the City that the Comprehensive Plan planning process should address. Your feedback is essential to creating a successful plan. **

Got questions? Here are some answers:

What is a Comprehensive Plan?
A Comprehensive Plan is a community blueprint that will guide the City for the next 20 years. The Comprehensive Plan will result in policies directing future growth and development. Additionally, creating a Plan can lead to strategies that effectively guide Germantown leaders as they make substantive and thoughtful decisions for the community.

What are the Contents of a Comprehensive Plan?
The Comprehensive Plan will outline Germantown's existing conditions, describe future development goals and objectives, and include an action plan for achieving them. The Thrive Germantown 2050 Comprehensive Plan will address the following topics:
  • Land Use and Development
  • Housing and Neighborhoods
  • Economic Development
  • Old Germantown Subarea
  • Transportation
  • Community Facilities, Services, and Infrastructure
  • Natural Resources and Environment
  • Review of Existing Small Area Plans - Central Business District, Forest Hill Heights, and Western Gateway
Who is involved in creating the Comprehensive Plan?
The City is committed to involving residents, businesses and workers in the process to craft a community vision for Germantown's future. Ultimately, the Planning Commission and Board of Mayor and Aldermen will approve and adopt the Comprehensive Plan.

We already have other plans. What will happen to those?
Existing plans are an important part of the Comprehensive Plan process. These plans will inform the Comprehensive Plan, and in some cases will be incorporated into the Plan if the goals and vision are still consistent with the aspirations of the community today.

When will the Plan start? When will it be completed?
The initial phases of the Plan have begun with anticipated completion in the Summer of 2027.

How can I get more involved in the process?
You can get involved in all the Comprehensive Plan activities, from data collection to community visioning and mapping, to creating community goals and objectives. The Get Involved page of the plan's website describes all the opportunities available to give your input, including public meetings, online surveys and questionnaires and an interactive mapping tool. The News & Updates page will list meeting dates and times as they are scheduled throughout the process. Finally, you can find materials from meetings and more information detailing the Comprehensive Plan process on the Documents page.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks, everyone! I hope you're all having a great Wednesday!
Erinn
