Now through April 30, we’re excited to be a part of Parks Build Community, a collaboration between the National Recreation and Park Association, Disney, ABC and ESPN to help revitalize parks across the country including a playground, park and recreation center right here in Philadelphia.
Every day in April you can vote for one of three PPR locations to receive a $20,000 grant. The spot with the most votes at the end of April will receive the funding. The projects you can vote for are:
- Beautify Glavin Playground: adding new green space including container gardens, seating and nature-play element
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreation Center Beautification: A new garden to provide food for wildlife like birds, bees, and butterflies.
- Pennypack Environmental Center Picnic Area: Upgrade picnic area and make it accessible for visitors with disabilities, as well as a sensory garden and play area.
All of Philadelphia’s public spaces make our lives better by inspiring healthy living, protecting the environment and bringing people together. Show your love for your local parks this Earth Month by visiting them and voting for your favorite project every day!
