Hi Everyone,

I trust that those of you who were celebrating a long weekend had a great time. Today I am writing to give an update on the progress of the Hyrax Fedora 6 Working Group and outline our plan for the new year.

The last meeting minutes can be found on the Samvera wiki.

Highlights include:

  • Fedora 6.5.1 Release Candidate – testing is under way with the goal of production release early January.
    • The Fedora team has issued a follow up release candidate to the original to include the outstanding PR for encoded slashes that will benefit Hyrax users.
    • Download and test 6.5.1-RC3
  • Nick Homenda will be replacing Rebekah Kati as the Hyrax Product Owner and joining the WG in the new year.
    • Special thanks to Rebekah for her contributions to the Hyrax project as well as to this working group. We look forward to continuing to work alongside you as we move ahead.
  • Sirenia testing is coming along well and nearly all tests are passing

Next Steps:

  • Setting up a test environment for community testing and feedback
    • A Nurax instance will be provisioned for Hyrax Fedora 6.x to allow for more in-depth performance testing
    • A Performance Testing Tracking sheet has been created and will be expanded on once the Nurax instance is ready.
    • GOAL: Configure the Nurax test environment and review performance testing metrics by early January 2025.

We are excited to be getting closer to achieving the goals of our Charter and look forward to sharing our performance testing results broadly with our two communities in the new year. If anyone is interested in participating or assisting with our next steps, please reach out to Arran Griffith (arran.g...@lyrasis.org) or Heather Greer Klein (hea...@samvera.org).

We will be breaking until the new year, with our first scheduled meeting on Jan 24, 2025 @ 9am Eastern.

Thanks to everyone for their contributions and dedication to this critical project. We could not have done it without the on-going support of all of our Working Group members and their institutions. Thank you.

Cheers,

Arran
