The recent hybrid camera R50 is strongly interesting for nomad astrophoto. It's not yet managed by Asiair. It would be nice to enhance Asiair quickly.. I just buy Asiair mini and R50! Thanks Dominique (France)

Hi, I came back to this forum to get actualized information upon compatibility with Canon R50. R50 has now a new version of its system (V 1.1.0) and AsiAir a new version too. But R50 compatibility is not mentionned. Have you some information about its coming?

Rather than waiting for ZWO to support the R50, I suggest getting the app called Shutter. It's not exactly cheap, but it will allow you to program the camera to shoot serial shots using longer durations. This doesn't allow you to control the camera from the AISair but it at least allows you to control the camera with your phone.

ZWO - Please take a few minutes to update your base Raspberry Pi drivers and focus some development effort on mount compatibility because the mount is the MOST important aspect of your business (Astro imaging). Not providing good support for Mounts means your entire ZWO ecosystem is unstable.

I use a CGE classic with Nexstar plus. You cannot connect via the PC port, you have to use the HC. The asiair has a usb to serial cable that connects to the celestron serial cable and into the hand controller. Also, there is no way around telling the CGE to move to switch and to use the last alignment, you need to do this yourself, actually I am not sure the CGX has switches. I dont think ZWO is going to bother trying to figure out the unique startup protocol of each celestron eq mount. Its really a celestron issue for not designing a consistent product that works the same in each mount. Most other EQ mounts I have used do not require the pre requisites that celestron does. Orion Atlas pro for example, has the same functionality with or without the HC provided you have a PC

Hi Swizerlan, the CGX does have internal switches factory set. I believe Celestron protocol information should be available. They shared it with others like Sky Safari who can properly control the mount via Wifi at 54MB speed and there are ASCOM drivers for full compatibility with the mount at USB speeds of 115200. so Pretty sure it's a matter of ZWO simply not putting the small amount of effort into it and not a Celestron challenge.

I agree with Kring. Ive been trying to get the AAP to connect through a USB port through the CGX HC and mount behavior is completely aberrant. The CGS runs well with Celestron software as well as ASCOM tools with the Celestron ASCOM driver(s). But, I bought this device so that I wouldnt have to lug a laptop around with all its different peripherals and unique power requirements. If it wont do it, thats fine. I wish ZWO would be up front and just say that. Ive done what the documentation says to do to a T to connect the scope and perform a GOTO. But, when I tell it to go to the moon, it acts like its on the other side of the world. And the forums are awash with all kinds of convoluted processes and reboots and rewires .... nah, not the easy process I was hoping for.
