I believe Gerard played LIO against jec one other time, maybe it
was with jjbols? I do not recall if they won, but I'm pretty sure jec
did face LIO twice as he said, and they might have won against
him that time also. He did win 2 matches vs. jec in his 18
attempts.
Not bad, considering. After all that is an 11% win rate. It is a
good
thing they don't consider how much he lost by. I still recall that
beating he took when he played against jec when aaronh and mrace
were jec's teammates. The score in that match was 115-4. That
is the least IMPs ever scored against jec in 28 boards in recorded
history.
However, you are correct that his partner was removed from the game
for cheating. Gerard at the time even said he would count it as a
loss
NOT a tie in light of that. He later changed his mind though...
guess it
will look better on the LIO book jacket as a tie. I was there when
Gerard said he would count it as a loss, and I was also there when
he later claimed it as a tie. Just depends which way the wind is
blowing I suppose.
Poor gerard. LIO went down in flames at his Goldway "event." They
lost by 44 IMPs. Good thing there wasn't much of an audience to see
it.
