This evening, Gerard came to kib at jec match and soon was
chatting about his Goldway match on OKBridge tonight.

batman98: good luck tonight, Gerard

salomecruz: are you playing against Jec , Gerard?

GerardMC: not today. I am playing the goldway in 30 minutes

mcphee: was that a special message for me Gerard?

salomecruz: what is the goldway?

GerardMC: same as this match but on OKB

Yes, Gerard, it is just the same, except it isn't a team game,
and jec matches get 800 to more than 1,000 kibitzers, to
name a couple differences off the top of my head

GerardMC: in fact, I won't play against JEC until I get an
invitation

GerardMC: no, I did not, but I had one dreadful match here,
and that was it

RazorbackD: I had one of them dreadful matches here
myself

salomecruz: are they scared of LIOpleurodonthis?

GerardMC: I know JEC does not like to play against LIO.
He lost one, had 1 tie and never won against it

Yes, that's why you're not invited, JEC is afraid of LIO.

GOLDWAY

I stopped by the Goldway match and much to my suprise, Gur,
who we were told would be playing in it, was kibitzing like me.

They are opposing Yigal and canooz.

On board 1, Gerard doubled them in a making slam, and they
lost a quick 10 IMPs

gab: why are we watching this?

gur: I don't like to say bad things about players but gerard
really has no clue

I was there for the first 5 boards and they lost IMPS on each
of them.

There were 17 kibitzers when I joined and 22 when I left.

Yep, JUST like jec matches.

Jimmy Cayne only faced the fearsome LIO once. And when the yellows
PROVED that The Gerard's partner was using two login's from the same
IP address they yanked his Albanian ass out of the chair and told him
not to come back. Gerard can try and rewrite history all he wants but
this is what happened.

I believe Gerard played LIO against jec one other time, maybe it
was with jjbols? I do not recall if they won, but I'm pretty sure jec
did face LIO twice as he said, and they might have won against
him that time also. He did win 2 matches vs. jec in his 18
attempts.
Not bad, considering. After all that is an 11% win rate. It is a
good
thing they don't consider how much he lost by. I still recall that
beating he took when he played against jec when aaronh and mrace
were jec's teammates. The score in that match was 115-4. That
is the least IMPs ever scored against jec in 28 boards in recorded
history.

However, you are correct that his partner was removed from the game
for cheating. Gerard at the time even said he would count it as a
loss
NOT a tie in light of that. He later changed his mind though...
guess it
will look better on the LIO book jacket as a tie. I was there when
Gerard said he would count it as a loss, and I was also there when
he later claimed it as a tie. Just depends which way the wind is
blowing I suppose.

Poor gerard. LIO went down in flames at his Goldway "event." They
lost by 44 IMPs. Good thing there wasn't much of an audience to see
it.

Was the 2nd LIO match the one where The Gerard was sent to the kiddies
table and they played against Aaron and Timo? I vaguely remember Timo
getting The Gerard's goat (not Borat's goat) by making fun of LIO's
really stupid alerts. If so, I remember Gee taking about an eighty-
five Imp bath in this match. Hardly a win.
