Colleagues: I am reaching out to encourage you to join the International Environmental Communication Association (IECA) for 2026. If you are currently a member, now is a great time to renew and to tell colleagues about the value of the organization. If you have already renewed your membership, as treasurer of IECA I thank you for your support.

We offer a wide range of individual and organizational membership options in order to promote the widest possible global reach for our organization.

The membership page on the IECA web site can be found at  https://theieca.org/page/Join_IECA. On the page we list these benefits as reasons to join or renew:

As part of IECA, you’re joining a vibrant international community using communication to foster sustainability, environmental justice, and meaningful social change.
  • The Environmental Communication journal — full online access
  • Reduced registration fees for the Conference on Communication and Environment (COCE)
  • Monthly webinars, meet-ups, and professional development opportunities
  • Exclusive member-only content, resources, and event recordings
  • Free access to the EC Index, our monthly bulletin featuring the latest research, news, and opportunities in the field of environmental communication
  • Opportunities to collaborate internationally, serve on committees, and showcase your work
  • Affiliation with a globally recognized organization — the IECA is designated as a Research and Independent Non-Governmental Organization (RINGO) under the UNFCCC, allowing participation in international climate forums such as the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29)

IECA has been in existence since 2011, has over 400 members from more than 30 countries, and just concluded our first biennial COCE conference in the Southern Hemisphere this June in Hobart, Tasmania. We are committed to the mission of promoting ethical environmental communication around the world through research, teaching, community outreach, and other endeavors. Please help us further this cause by joining or renewing today.
