Assistant / Associate Professor Sustainable Bio-Products Marketing and Management

 

Applications are invited for a faculty position at the Assistant / Associate Professor level (tenure-track or tenured) in Sustainable Bio-Products Marketing and Management in the Department of Wood Science, Faculty of Forestry at The University of British Columbia. 

 

This professorial appointment requires a Ph.D. in wood-based bioproduct business, marketing, management, applied economics, or an affiliated field, evidence of excellence in research, and the potential to become a very effective teacher of undergraduate students and mentor to graduate students. Preference will be given to visionary candidates who show promise or accomplishments in one or more of the following areas: 

 

  • Transformative business strategies in the emerging global bio-economy;
  • Business plan development (primary and secondary, including Indigenous);
  • Business management
    • knowledge of the forest bio-products industry
    • knowledge of primary and  small-medium enterprises (SMEs) alike;
  • Sustainability and business, including
    • circular business models
    • carbon accounting;
    • Fostering innovation (research and collaboration/application), including business / corporate; new product / market development; entrepreneurship; and capacity building;
  • Marketing and market research methods;
  • International trade.

 

The successful candidate is also expected to collaborate with the Centre for Advanced Wood Processing (CAWP), which, through its extension and applied research programs, offers extensive links with Canadian wood products manufacturers and opportunities to work with existing and emerging companies and organizations. This is a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. The anticipated start date for the position is July 01, 2025, but it may be negotiated. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. All UBC positions are subject to final budgetary approval. The expected pay range for this position at the Assistant Professor level is $120,000 – $130,000, plus a generous benefits package. At the Associate Professor level the expected pay range is $130,000 – $160,000.
