Dear colleagues,
Ahead of COP30, our new article in Nature Portfolio Journal Climate Action examines how the integration of climate and biodiversity action depends on spatially explicit data. We argue that without knowing where actions occur, global climate and biodiversity goals risk to remain disconnected from local realities, obscuring both effectiveness and justice outcomes.
We call for the UNFCCC, CBD, and UNCCD Action Agendas to institutionalize the use of spatial data in non-Party reporting and monitoring systems as a key step toward more credible, equitable, and accountable global environmental governance.
