Dear colleagues,

As acceptability of carbon taxation is becoming a hot topic, I am pleased to announce the publication in Ecological Economics of my paper, joint with Thomas Douenne, on:

That paper exploits a representative survey on three thousands French people that we conducted in the context of the Yellow Vests movement (that was triggered by an increase in the gasoline tax). The paper is essentially descriptive. Using the same data, we also have a working paper that studies thoroughly the formation of beliefs and establishes causal factors and motivated reasoning in the acceptance of a carbon tax and dividend:

The latter link is the most recent version of the paper. Here is a citable working paper version. Finally, a summary in French of both papers is also available:

My coauthor and I look forward to your comments. Also, if you know of any general public outlet that could be interested in covering our work, we'd be glad to publish a column.

PS : both Thomas Douenne and I, Adrien Fabre, are job market candidates from the Paris School of Economics.

Sincerely,

Adrien Fabre
