About IES
The Institute for Environment and Sustainability at the Kee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy is dedicated to conducting cutting edge “fit for purpose” policy research, training, and outreach with which to help address Asia’s most pressing sustainability challenges. The institute was created following the growing recognition among governments, the private sector, and non-profit organizations that the task today is no longer about what to do, but how governments, the private sector, and non-profit organizations might apply policy and governance innovations with which to achieve their sustainability goals. The Institute conducts its mission through four thematic areas: climate and energy; biodiversity and land use; water and oceans; and sustainability livelihoods. These are supported by our emerging Climate Policy Design Lab (CPDL), our Center for Water Policy (CWP) and targeted programs spanning trade and the environment, financial innovations, and market mechanisms.
