Here are recent updates from the university #flyingless initiative (flyingless.org):
  • Sustainability Now! (March 8). We are helping with a pilot event for the Tufts Multi-Site Low-Carbon Conference Hosting (MULCH) Initiative. For the annual Tufts Nutrition Data Symposium (TNDS) keynote March 8, on the theme of Sustainability Now!, there will be in-person sites in London (at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) and Boston (Tufts University). The start time is noon eastern US (5pm London). There will be a reception afterwards with video and audio links between the Boston and London sites, with start time 1:15pm eastern (6:15pm London). For #flyingless innovation, in addition to the remarkable activity around online conferences in recent years, this type of genuine in-person event in multiple sites also seems worth exploring. At the event, I will introduce the keynote speaker Catherine Nakalembe of the University of Maryland and give a short introduction to university #flyingless efforts. March 8 also is International Women's Day. Please join us especially if you can come in person to the Boston or London sites (online viewing is also possible through the link above).
  • Stay Grounded. The Stay Grounded website and community has great new activities. For example, they have a recent initiative to help other organizations host workshops related to aviation.
  • Flight Free. The Flight Free USA website has been updated with new inspiring personal stories and photos (including myself and many other folks connected with this university #flyingless initiative). The Flight Free UK site also remains active.
  • Twitter @flyingless. In addition to our website (flyingless.org), our Twitter Feed has updates on new research (for example about biofuels and offsets), innovative low-carbon travel journeys, and more.
  • Email preferences. These occasional email updates through Google Groups, fewer than once monthly, are being sent to people who supported our petition (flyingless.org) and checked a box for receiving occasional emails. If we included you by error, or if you would like to be removed, just email parke...@gmail.com. No explanation needed. We are grateful for your interest and glad to respect your email preferences.
Thanks for all you do!

Best,

Parke
