Clarification

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

 

Enough of you have asked about my email of yesterday, in which I issued an apology on behalf of a colleague and announced a temporary change in listserv mechanics, to prompt this brief note of clarification.

 

The violation of list norms that triggered my action was the decision by one valued colleague to share, on an international listserv with a publically accessible archive, a sensitive private email from another valued colleague without permission.  That’s the red line. 

 

Some of you have attempted to post thoughtful responses to this kerfuffle with that private email included in the thread.  I’ve held those posts back until they can be edited to exclude the private email.
