We would like to invite you to the launch of Just Transition and Care: An international Inquiry that will take place on November 20, 15:30-17:00 Central European Time. The goal of the report is to highlight the need for just transition strategies in care, where most workers are women. We explore this with respect to domestic and community care, environmental care, food provisioning, healthcare, and education, drawing from the experiences and insights of workers, advocates and engaged scholars.

Dear all:
We would like you to a webinar on Just Transition in Environmental Care that will take place this coming this Thursday, April 9. You can find information on content and registration here: https://www.unrisd.org/en/activities/events/a-just-transition-in-environmental-care-a-webinar-about-care-work-and-just-transition
This webinar focuses on the environmental care chapter of the recently published report on Care Work in the Just Transition: An International Inquiry, examining the significance of the just transition strategy for environmental care workers. Just transition is a strategy originally developed by labour environmentalists and soon adopted by environmental justice organizations. The strategy called for public policies to ensure socially and environmentally just transitions for the workers and the communities affected by massive shifts in economic activities driven by environmental policies. With the rise of climate politics the strategy came to focus on decarbonization and the workers and communities in the energy sector. While recognizing the significance of climate change and the need for a just energy transition, this event seeks to expand the scope of just transition to all workers and communities, particularly those in the care sector, which includes multiple forms of work, paid and unpaid, that are essential to human and non-human well-being.
Considering environmental protection as one very important dimension of care work, this event builds on testimonies from four representatives of agroforestry, fire prevention and non-extractive development communities in Kenya, Brazil, Colombia and Spain, combined with a desk review of recent reports on environmental care in the planetary crisis.
