These are the prize winners for geography work they have done in the
first cycle of workshops at the GeoVidyaa Geography Centre of
Excellence during July-August 2011.

2. “What is the colour of the bear and why?” Classes 6 – 9.

These students attempted to answer the geography riddle.

CORRECT ANSWER:
-------------------------------
For the windows to face in the same direction, the house has to be
either at North pole or South pole. There are no bears at the South
pole. Polar bears exist only at the North pole. Therefore, if a bear
walks by the house, the house has to be at the North pole. Polar bears
are white. Therefore, the bear is white.
