Hi everyone -
From the star counts on the Issues page, I can tell that there are
people interested in solutions for issues 183 (difficulty/terrain/size
filtering), 198 (early login to be able to access PMO caches) and 210
(non-default date formats and languages).
Version 3.15.x of GeoToad has been started to resolve these issues -
and a few more, as you can see from the "Started" status of several
other issues.
3.15.0 had been uploaded to GoogleCode about two weeks ago; to avoid
confusion I had to hide them though (and only a single person managed
to find it).
I'm a bit unhappy with some of the details yet - at the moment, login
cookies are never re-used, cached "found by user" searches expire on
midnight UTC, and HTML and text output have been neglected for a long
time - but it's time to get some broader testing community, since I'm
unable to think of all the scenarios you are using in your every-day
geocaching preparations.
What's already in you can check on the CurrentDevelVersion wiki page.
What will come next? Perhaps something that handles issue 174
(indicate age of data in cache description); certainly issue 213
(search without loading all the details, nice to plan trips), maybe
issue 214 (which isn't pressing since ruby 1.8.7 will live for another
year or so). 3.15.1 then. RSN.
So this is where you, and you, and you too!, may enter the stage.
Please, if you feel a bit adventurous (and perhaps have a dummy
account to spare):
Go and get 3.15.x (it's derived from branches/steve8x8 in SVN, placed
in the Download area, but marked "Deprecated" as "most people
shouldn't download this").
Report back *here* or directly by mail. DO NOT open new issues for
bugs you find!
(Hey, as I write this, a small glitch in 3.15.0 comes to mind - let's
see whether you can find it! ;-))
As before, a new release of GeoToad can only be as good as the testing
it has passed.
Please help to make it even better.
Cheers,
S
