Iam trying to import a .csv file with a due date column and then reassign it to the due date on the task itself in Asana. I am able to import all data and reassign a column to use as a section but the option to use an imported column as a due date is gray and unavailable. It says it needs to be in date format. I have tried several different date formats and each time the option still not available. HELP!

Our program team is global so the international date format the integrated teams use in other countries is dd/mm/yy. Does Asana only support the USA standard mm/dd/yy? If so, we would love to see the international date format dd/mm/yy supported as well.

For me the problem was Chome. When it was installed by my sys-admin, they installed it using US English. I had to go into Settings, Advanced, Language, and add the specific New Zealand English language to Chrome. I set it as the default for Chrome. Once I did that, restarted Chrome, it worked.

Yes, I am working from different time zone from most of my team. It is really hard to set or fix due dates. As a project manager, it is really crucial being eye on those deadlines not to fall back. I would love to see this feature to be improved.

I work in an internatinal environment and have to travel a lot. When I open Asana in a different time zone, it adapts the times depending on the time zone I am in - which is clever in some cases. In others, it is confusing and not wanted.

For example, when I am in CEST and have a meeting scheduled at 10:00 am CEST, it is clever to change the time when I am travelling in CET - it adapts the time automatically to 09:00 am CET. On the other hand though, if I have a meeting scheduled at 09:00h CET and am in CEST, I have to enter the time in 10:00 am CEST so that when coming back to CET, I do not miss my meeting (happened alreday ).

Absolutely - Asana is making the classic UX mistake here of guessing what the user wants, sometimes getting it wrong, and then giving no way to override the guess. I just set a bunch of tasks to the wrong date because I happened to launch Firefox while I was connected to the VPN, and so Asana assumed I was in California rather than Australia, and put all my tasks in the wrong day. Even when I noticed it took a huge amount of wasted time to realize I had to disconnect the VPN, restart Firefox, start Asana, restart VPN ! What a pain. Surely its not too much to have a preference for setting the timezone manually, even my iPhone has that.

Having logged in there, if I go to the Settings page for Date & time it says "Change date and time on Dropbox". It has a button to click to go to those settings within Dropbox. When I click, it just goes back to where I have already set the date as "DD/MM/YYYY" format in Dropbox.

So I uploaded a dummy document, and yes within that portal it does have the correct "DD/MM/YYYY" date tag, so thanks very much for your help. I just need to make sure I do any signing work in the Hellosign portal, not directly via the signatures tab in dropbox.

I use Smartsheet in Australia and use the appropriate date format for my sheets (image 1) with the correct personal regional settings (image2). However, when I use a form from my sheet to input data it shows the US date format (image 3) which has confused some of my users. Is there a setting to ensure date format stays consistent across sheets and forms?

By setting the form so that the user must be logged in to access it, the regional preferences for that user are respected by Smartsheet. By setting the form so that the user does not need to be logged in, then US format appears to be used.

I am trying to generate certificates of completion with document builder and include the date of conferral. No matter how I enter the date into a date field (my preference is "Friday, January 1, 2021" as the format), it always enters in the 1/1/21 format. Any ideas for getting document builder to fill it correctly?

I am struggling with the same issue listed in this thread, however my problem is that I cannot add the date as a text because there are other columns that automatically calculate from the date column. Can I somehow copy the date into a text column without running into a formatting issue?

I find the document builder extremely frustrating from a formatting perspective, this being one of them. The workarounds are not consistent with what they are presenting the features to be - its much less simple that its trying to seem. My formatting is coming through is various stretched out sized, text cut-off in the form field, etc. There needs to be a formatting edit feature that affects the document only, and not needing the source sheet to have the same format (text alignment, font size, etc)

@SueinSpain I'm interested in which date format you used. I've tried what you mentioned. I modified the fields in the pdf to date DD-MMM-YYYY (same as my column date format in the sheet), remapped it but the form generated was still showing the date in DD/MM/YY (in Europe) and MM/DD/YY for my US colleague.? It looks like the date regional settings is the default format used for the date column when generating a document.

I still can't get it to do a long date, but I did a ridiculous workaround with three helper columns which at least brings it up in English format. (I needed mine entered at the end of the sentence so I had to add a full stop/period afterwards.)

Shocked that this is still a problem. Smartsheet is great in so many ways, but the fact that taking information from the date column and transferring it into the document builder using the format already set in the source column is quite simply astonishing. This has been a known issue for what...three years now? Any other column seems to pull in exactly as it is sourced.

I saw somewhere else it is based on your profile preference but after looking through countless regional preferences I did not see one that even was set as MM/DD/YYYY. Come on guys.....if this is how the formatting is based then add ONE that uses that format. Better still add one that uses MM/DD/YYYY and another that uses Month/Day/Year (ex January 01, 2023).

Here's a solution. You have to make a separate Smartsheet that has the month numbers and corresponding spelled out month names AND you have to have a year column with the 2 digit year and another column with the corresponding 4-digit year.

You need to make sure that if the date is formatted as "08" then you need to put an apostrophe before the 08 ('08) for the index/match formula to read it. You have to do the same for the 2-digit year.

It appears that Evernote does not obey the device's set region for date format. It instead uses the US format of mm/dd/yyyy. It would be preferable to use my region's format of dd/mm/yyyy. Otherwise how do I know if 7/6/2022 is July 6th or June 7th? Or instead use the international format of yyyy/mm/dd and no one will be confused. Alternatively use the month mnemonic eg: 7 Jun 2022 or Jun 7 2022.

I had my region set to English (United Kingdom) and all other apps seem to obey this, but Evernote was returning dates in US format. Based on long-standing frustration I figured this was just Evernote being rubbish. Then I saw Mike P's post with screenshots of UK formatted dates -- so it has to be possible to change this.
