we have an open PhD position in the polar and mountain regions group at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Oberpfaffenhofen close to Munich.
Your tasks:
As part of a PhD with the provisional working title "The effects of the dynamics of alpine headwater regions on water, energy and food security in Germany", you will analyze extensive data archives from Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 and, in part, Planet Fusion data to investigate how changes in the Alpine catchment areas relevant to Germany affect water availability, water flow and navigability of large rivers (especially the Rhine), hydroelectric power generation (Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg), but also agricultural production.
