geoshield and umn mapserver

Hello,

congrats for creating a great piece of software. My questions: is it possible to use geoshield with an umn mapserver WMS and how would one setup this? I have not been very lucky trying it myself. Or is geoshield thought purely for geoserver security (because of namespaces, CQL etc.)?
