Hi,
Any sense of timeframe for Geoshield as a (semi-stable) GeoServer
extension?

BTW, playing with it as an independent proxy, and it is simple
and powerful. Nicely thought out.

Best,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Hi,
Any sense of time-frame for GeoShield as a (semi-stable) GeoServer
extension?

GeoShield is not a product with strict deadlines. We are working on it as soon as we have some time to correct bugs or when we need some new enhancement.
Currently we are upgrading our production GeoServer from 1.7 to 2.1.1 so we are also working on the plug-in.
I can predict that a stable release will be released at the end of this process.. at the latest at the end of October (2011).

The GeoShield project team is open for new committers/contributors if anyone is interested to contribute and make GeoShield better just contact me.

BTW, playing with it as an independent proxy, and it is simple
and powerful.  Nicely thought out.

Thanks

Best,
Steve

Cheers

Ah yes, like all good projects, timelines are time dependent.
If I end up using it pretty seriously, I could help with documentation
in the future. I have no strengths in Java development,
unfortunately.

Best,
Steve

Documentation is also a great contribution!
Stay tuned on the list [1] or on the rss [2].
The stable release is around the corner ;)

Ciao
