Problema con i filtri

Per filtrare i punti in una WMS ho utilizzato i filtri logici come in 

esempio:

var filter = new OpenLayers.Filter.Logical({

               type: OpenLayers.Filter.Logical.OR,

               filters: filtersListFinal

             });

Ove filtersListFinal è una lista di condizioni sull'idobj.

Ad esempio

        filtro da applicare: (idobj = 'SMF2144') OR (idobj = 'SMF2149') OR 

(idobj = 'SMF2164') OR (idobj = 'SMF2179').....

Se ho pochi elementi (e quindi pochi idobj) da filtrare...ok, se invece ne ho 

molti...geoserver mi dà un errore

:9090/geoserver/SICONTRAF/wms?LAYERS=SICONTRAF%3Acasm_svl&TRANSPARENT=true&…2

Probabilmente la lunghezza del filtro è troppo grande...sapreste indicarmi 

una soluzione??
