Geocaching Live is the API published by Groundspeak for accessing
theur database via wevservices.

I now have a beta version of GeoScout which uses this API ready for
test and available from the download page or at
http://eastlands.dyndns.org/downloads/geoscout4.zip. You should NOT
overwrite your existing install or use your existing database. Please
see read-me in the zip for details.

I just installed the beta and got my token. So far so good ;-)
On the first try to download 20 caches near my home I got an error (if
I recall correct API -1) but a retry yielded 20 imports. A quick look
around gave the impression all is OK. Hints viewable, spoilers
viewable, logs, extra wp's all OK.

So it looks good but now I'm getting anxious, we have a trip coming up
in 2 weeks time and there will be time for caching. However, I will
need the "live" database by then and of course Geoscout will have to
be registered so I don't have the 10 caches limit.

How about the timeline? Will GS4 be ready to "use in anger" by then?

Thanks for the update.

Maurice.

I have submitted the application to Groundspeak for their approval. I
hope that they might be able to review it and approve it in the next 2
weeks. I'll let know know of any progress.

Groundspeak have now issued me with a production key so GeoScout 4 is now available to access the main geocaching.com data.

The application still needs to be officially approved by Groundspeak, however if you want to install, it is now available from the website: http://eastlands.dyndns.org/default.htm?geoscout

If you installed the beta version and generated a token, you will need to repeat this process as the token for the staging server will not work on the productionn server.

I have received several minor bug reports but as yet I have not had time to address these.  I hope to get round to these as soon as possible.
