Scattered thunderstorms in July brought some local relief in Georgia.
However, rainfall deficits in some areas are increasing because of
limited rainfall. As of August 3rd, rainfall amounts recorded at the
following AEMN stations were more than 10 inches below normal:
Arlington (16 inches), Griffin-Dempsey (14.4), Tiger (13.8), Nahunta
(13.1), Rome (12.7), Newton (12.6), Unadilla (11.9), Watkinsville
(11.7), Pine Mountain (11.7), Georgetown (11.5), Griffin (11.5),
Savannah (10.5), LaFayette (10.6), Covington (10.7), Dallas 10.2),
Hatley (10.3), and Shellman (10.1). We compare the total rainfall
recorded at each AEMN station with normal rainfall values (30 yrs:
1971-2000) from the nearest NWS COOP station.
