Subject: Eating Dirt to Survive

EMERGENCY: HE WAS EATING DIRT TO SURVIVE

SUCH HUNGER. EATING DIRT.

Mary, one of our kennel techs, went fishing this morning. Instead of fishing, she rescued Sky who was barely hanging on.

He is severely emaciated and cannot support his weight on his back legs.

And the part we can't shake - Sky has been eating dirt just to survive.

He has been rushed to our vet, who met us at the clinic on a Sunday morning and admitted him immediately. We are already facing over $8,000 in past due vet bills and we are just at the beginning. There are so many unknowns.

Right now even feeding him is dangerous. After prolonged starvation, his body is so fragile that starting food again can cause a rapid and life-threatening electrolyte crash. We have to bring him back slowly, carefully...hoping his body holds on.

And the truth is - we are already struggling.

As always, we are behind on the basics: electric, kennel staff pay, insurance, medications - the things that keep the rescue running day to day.

We need help. Desperately. Please donate if you can. Sky has fought this hard to survive. We're fighting just as hard for her. He ate dirt just to make it one more day.

We've been able to save so many with your help. And your gift will help  us save even more precious lives.
