GSWAG,
I hope everyone is enjoying their Spring Break and getting some well-deserved rest, hopefully someplace warm (It's 25 here in NY!). I haven't bothered you all with an email in awhile, so I thought it was about time I did so!
There are so many cool events, improvements, and speechwriting projects in the works so please take the time to read this email.
- Co-Sponsored Event with GUCD - This coming Wednesday, 3/19/14, GSWAG and GUCD will welcome Mo Elleithee to campus in ICC 104 at 8:30 PM. Mr. Elleithee is one of the biggest names in the Democratic Party so don't miss the chance to hear him speak. He's a graduate of Georgetown (SFS '94), the current Director of Communications for the Democratic National Committee, a founding partner of Hilltop Public Solutions, and was the highest ranking spokesperson for Hillary Clinton's 2008 Presidential Campaign. I hope you can all attend, and speechwriters, please plan on attending!
- Katie Potterfield Event - The following Tuesday, 3/25/14, around 8 PM we will be hosting President DeGioia's speechwriter, Katie Potterfield. There are many students who have worked in the President's Office and have raved about Ms. Potterfield. She is supposed to be incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. She even helped GSWAG on a speech last year! Make sure to keep your calendars open for the 25th around 8 PM for an awesome event!
- Speechwriting Workshop - Sometime during the first 2 weeks back from break, we will be holding a speechwriting workshop. The Executive Board and I will be reviewing some famous speeches and some of our work in order to create an interactive presentation. We hope to improve your writing skills, clarify what the Executive Board looks for in good speeches and communication products, and show you how to take the steps to professional communications work yourself. Please plan on attending this workshop on Wednesday, 3/26 in the evening.
- Client Update - We just finished up a project for the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria last week and are in the process of receiving feedback on our work. Currently, we are still working with Brain Injury Services (BIS) and PRS, Inc. on separate projects. Additionally, we will be expanding our work for BIS to include elevator pitches, talking points, and some general marketing consulting. One of our new projects involves writing blog articles for a large medtech schools company (our biggest client so far!). Finally, we will be completing a few more project for Volunteer Alexandria (our 1st client of the year) over the next 2 months.
- Operations Dept. Work - Currently, the Operations Department is busy working to improve our website, update organizational information, complete administrative tasks, and determine future prospective clients as targets of future outreach efforts (work vital to our club's continued success).
- Dues and NDAs - I have received very few new member's dues ($5) and Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs). Please bring both of these items to the events over the next 2 weeks or drop them off at LXR 112.
- Constitution - The Executive Board is in the process of completing our final edits to our Club Constitution. This document will guide our club for decades to come and we will present the finalized version at our end-of-semester general body meeting.
- Social Events - I hope to see everyone at our upcoming social events. We are planning department-specific events (dinners and pregames), as well as at least 1 more full-club party! I can't wait to enjoy the next 2 months with every, single GSWAG member.
I may have forgotten a thing or two, but I'll be sure to keep you all updated! Enjoy Spring Break and keep up the great work!
Best,
-Will
