On Tuesday, December 13th at 3:00 PM the Georgetown City Council will
hold a workshop to examine progress made by the Lone Star Rail District in City Council Chambers at 101 E. Seventh Street. Back in September the City Council almost slashed funding our membership in the rail district, which, when complete, would connect us via rail to San Antonio. Some Council members were very pessimistic about the progress being made and implied the rail would be a money pit and never be used by anyone. Tuesday afternoon, representatives from Lone Star Rail will be presenting on the progress made so far and planning that has been done to make the rail system useful to many people.
A good showing at this presentation would demonstrate public interest in transit options to relieve congestion and reduce pollution. If you can't attend in person you can watch at http://government.georgetown.org/gtv/?tab=live it will also be available on the City web site as a recording after the workshop is over. You can attend or watch and let your City Council Member know what you think.
