As many of you may have heard already, we've had a major set back to getting a bus system to serve all of Georgetown. The Census categorized us as part of Austin's urbanized area for purposes of transit funding. This not only endangers getting a public bus system, it endangers the current CARTS services. After September only Medicare and Medicaid recipients will be eligible for the transportation services CARTS currently provides in Georgetown unless the City is willing to fund the service. It would cost about $180,000 just to maintain our current services. It's unclear Council will be willing to foot such a large bill for a limited service.
