Welcome back to SIG Small Groups! Tomorrow (Friday, March 28th) at 3pm we will be having another small group meeting where we will discuss cholecystitis and watch a video of cholecystectomy surgery. This meeting will be held in GE2 (It's the conference room in the front of the first ILC hallway). Like always, we encourage everyone to come if you can make it, and to bring any resources you might want to reference like anatomy books, atlases or laptops.

See you tomorrow!

[For those of you who haven't been to one of our SIG small group meetings, what we do is go over the clinical presentation of a condition and then watch a couple videos of the actual surgical treatment. Everything's very informal and group-led without any main speaker. These groups were suggested by our adviser, Dr. Evangelista, of the Georgetown General Surgery department.  She gave us access to the video archives that residents use to prepare for surgery. The two types of videos we have been watching are the "operative techniques" that are more like tutorials with anatomy and physiology review and images and diagrams to take you step by step from pre-op through the operation and into post-op care. The second videos are actual videos of the surgeries. We are using these sessions as a way to prepare for the USMLE Step 1 exams and 3rd Year surgery rotations.  In brief, our goal is to hold casual group-discussions of ideas across the disciplines from the M1 and M2 years and apply these concepts to common surgical cases.]
