Problem with uploading file

I get the following message after uploading a file (progress bar shows 100%): " Something went wrong when converting the file.Make sure you are uploading a valid file and try again." 

The file in question is a 24MB JPG, and it opens just fine in PhotoShop.   

Any hints on how to troubleshoot and resolve this?
