Hello, this is my first time viewing this community, I don't see a rules thread so I hope the info page was enough. I'm only here for one reason unless I grow a fandom and lurk around (which might happen)

Anyways, I'm here to look for a ball jointed doll that is as proportional as possible. I've looked on ebay and don't see any fair prices, I may even wish for two of them for couples poses ^_^ My budget greatly varies, but I'd prefer $20 (*hears the sound of thrown tomatoes*) what's the average these go for? I'm brand new here, so I might go higher, I want a reasonable price. Are all of these able to stand up by itself or do they include a stand?

I only intend to use one for a huge time frame 10-however long I live, even, so proportionality is what I'm after. What's optional is that it looks like my character, Lugia animewaterdragon.deviantart.com/art/REFERENCE-FOR-LUGIACHAN-121376183 which I may create clothes for the doll and get a custom wig for ^_^ so I'll greatly love it! No children OR pets are in the house, and I'm constantly an artist at work: currently learning human proportions as a day-to-day basis! I even have a little sleeping blanket one (or two) can use to tuck them away at night. (*Awww!*)

So anyways, one female and one male. I will hope to even modify the male version to look like her husband, img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/LugiaChan/Lugia%20X%20Dark/DarknessCharacter.png Darkness, or even the human version of him. I only seen the front page so far- so I'll get inspired and look through more furry dolls ^_^ They're so cute! I'd love to have this couple for myself, and for drawing reference. If there's anything I missed in the rules or whatnot, please let me know. I have paypal to pay.

Honestly, if your budget is around $20 a doll, then your best bet is to go with 27cm Obitsu or Volks Dollfie dolls. They are Barbie sized, but much more articulated and have different faces and eyes and hair you can put on them.

Right now, you really can't get out of buying an abjd without paying at least $150. And even then, you're not getting the best dolls for posing. If you are warning drawing reference dolls, then again Obtisu 50-60cm dolls, or Volks Dollfie Dreams will pose the best and hold them for you.

The resin dolls are heavy, and some of them are impaired by their design from getting the poses that I'm sure you will want to get them into. The vinyl types of dolls that I mentioned above are much lighter and hold their poses better. I've got a Dollfie Dreams myself, and she's amazing as far as her posability.

^_^; I live really far out and don't have access to an art store of much. Wooden mannequins are costly, I ventured around looking for something that also is more human-shaped (I consider myself very very new at human proportions) so I can't decipher body shapes of wooden mannequins, it may even just be a start before I go onto wooden mannequins.

Understood- I'm a day 1 user of hearing about these types of dolls so had no clue on their price range asides what's shown. As far as help here, it's great =) so I may go with 27cm Obitsu or Volks Dollfie doll from statement above.

Ever hear the saying "You get what you pay for"? For one, the comments about these dolls not being good artist's models are right-there is a reason that actual things are sold in art stores for this. Two, you are NOT going to get a BJD for anywhere near that price, not one that isn't a 27cm plastic one. I checked the deviantArt account you linked, and you're selling thousands of dollars in Pokemon (I think?)stuff. These dolls are works of art, and even the cheapest Obitsu or Dollfie in 27cm will take money for the base doll, money for the clothes, for the face, and hair and still won't be a good artist's model.

I do believe you're in the wrong hobby, dearie. :/
