Washington Gas is looking for candidates with GIS background to help build a system to predict natural gas pipeline leaks, failures, ruptures or other distribution pipeline integrity conditions across the greater D.C. metro area. The candidate will handle spatial data processing (FME, Python, SQL) to feed a predictive algorithm, which you will also help develop along with a team of pipeline engineers. Experience developing Python or FME jobs for automated data processing required. The work involves highly variable tasks with little to no repetitive activity. 

These skills are important:
- ESRI or QGIS desktop
- Python, GDAL or ArcPy library experience
- FME desktop
- SQL scripting, recursive queries, building views, database functions (need not perform full range of DBA functions)
- Experience with triggering (database) or other code scheduling and handling methods (.bat files, task scheduler, server side, etc)
- Experience with a versioned code repository
- Ability to present findings, techniques, methods, and results of predictive model output

Need not:
- Perform repetitive data entry, vector editing, or paper map making
- Build GUI or front-ends
