JOB OPENING: Analyst position with tech start-up

First Mile Geo is a tech startup specializing in data collection, visualization (including mapping), and analysis. We’re looking to hire a part-time analyst to support data cleaning and analysis, client management, and product development in a small, dynamic team.
Responsibilities include:
Clean and manage large datasets to ensure users’ ability to use First Mile Geo’s tools
Conduct analysis on sample or client datasets to demonstrate product features and anticipate client needs
Guide users in best practices of data collection and analysis
Manage user expectations and respond to user inquiries
Serve as a liaison between users and software developers, conveying user needs to developers in discrete, actionable recommendations
Provide informed written and verbal input on strategy and product development
Support other tasks, as needed
Qualifications:
Experience handling and conducting analysis on large (3000+ observations) datasets, preferably covering a range of subjects, such as market research, risk management, monitoring & evaluation, business intelligence
Practical experience writing research reports, executive memos, briefs based upon data-driven collection or analysis
Experience with statistical packages (eg STATA, SPSS, SAS, JMP, R) preferred
Experience with data visualization tools (eg Tableau) preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Flexibility and willingness to fill a variety of roles
Ability to work efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision and structure
Foreign language skills a plus, especially Spanish and Arabic
Availability to commit to 25-30 hours per week, with more hours on occasion, as needed
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience with an early-stage startup, where your role will directly influence the shape of the company and our web application. There is potential for this to turn into a full-time position if mutual interest exists.
Location: Chinatown, DC, but some remote work is possible
Hours: Flexible
Pay: TBD based on qualifications
