Hi,

having noticed that IATA (http://www.iata.org/ps/publications/pages/code-search.aspx) has no longer been referencing the RAF Andover (http://www.geonames.org/7730476/andover-airfield.html) airfield for a while, I checked on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Andover), and that POR (point of reference) does not longer seem to be able to operate aircraft on an "airfield". So, I changed the feature code from "AIRP" (airport) to "AIRQ" (abandoned airfield). However, that "airfield" is not abandoned: it has been taken over by the British Army, and helicopters may even be able to land/take off to/from there.
So, what would be the best feature code describing that place?

Thanks in advance

Kind regards

Denis

Hi Denis

Looking at the satellite images I can only see a small spot for
helicopters. I think that 'heliport' it the best feature code describing
the current situation:
AIRH heliport a place where helicopters land and take off

Best Regards

Marc

I think that 'heliport' it the best feature code describing the current situation:
AIRH        heliport        a place where helicopters land and take off

It makes sense as well. So,  I have changed the feature code accordingly.
And I have kept the IATA and ICAO codes flagged as "historical", as that heliport is no longer referenced by those organisations.

By the way, have you had time to see how the new fields (e.g., historical and colloquial flags) could be exported along with the alternate names in the alternateNames.txt/.zip data file?

Nevertheless, thanks for your answer!

Kind regards

Denis
