Hey guys, it was great seeing all of you yesterday! For those of you who were unable to make the meeting:

1. Todd told us that MapStory would be willing to give us funding to use their platform. We're planning on organizing an event around using MapStory and rubbing shoulders with historians, archivists, community enthusiasts...basically anyone who wants to be involved can be. We also thought we could host a competition where people submit their ideas -- we could get college students/others outside our network involved in the process and use it as a great way to debut our group. We should figure out timeline, planning, venue, semantics, etc.
2. We're also going to have a central website. We can use it to publicize our events, projects, and link to our maps, resources, and geo-thoughts. We can also use it for the Map Story event idea submission, which would give it some use.

Those were the two main takeaways...I think we're still talking logo design and publicity. I also don't know if I left too soon, but where would you guys want to have the next Mappy Hour?

Payal

ps- I've been feeling nostalgic lately for a time that I wasn't even alive for in true Midnight in Paris fashion. It's mostly left me to go on the hunt for Baltimore ryes that actually were produced in the city (did you all know that was a thing?), and look at photos like these: http://imgur.com/a/agz6t Thought you'd enjoy.

Thanks Payal!
I also updated the google doc with some takeaways, and purchased geomore.org for us to use. Now to design and publish!

Mark your calendars for the Mappy Hour - June 20 6pm. Let's do somewhere we can be outside perhaps?  Hopefully we'll have the MapStory date set and we'll see even more new faces this time around.

Happy Mapping!

Maggie

Great! Also, if you're feeling the Hack the Parks, definitely check out this additional opportunity: http://www.parksandpeople.org/parks/partnership/grants-for-parks-projects/ I didn't have a chance to ask them if they'd be interested in sponsoring a hacking project, but they'd probably be interested in something like OpenTreeMap for Baltimore.
