Hey all, I meant to send this to some Foursquare friend, but you can all check it out too!

Hey 4sq family,

I'm looking for a little help testing a new, really simple app for encouraging anyone that edits OpenStreetMap (or is interested in it) to contribute to OSM by way of Foursquare. This little app checks to see if the venues you check-in to are on OpenStreetMap, and will notify you if they're not, with a link to edit it.

Here's the link: openstreetmap.us/checkins

The app is open to all, so if you're a mapper, try it out! Issues and code are here on Github.

We can't copy the venue info from the Foursquare venue--that'd be against the terms of service. Rather, this tool is meant to remind you that the place you visited can be added to the map based on your own memory or survey of the spot.

Remember that it is the OpenStreetMap base data that makes Foursquare maps awesome!

This map comes from this
