Hey everyone! Bummed that you haven't had a chance to do any DataKind projects since the World Bank event? Well here's your chance! We're looking for excited data warriors to work on a fantastic project with our partners DC Action for Children. Last year, DC Action for Children worked with DataKind volunteers to wrangle public data and build their fantastic KIDS COUNT interactive map visualization on child wellbeing. It was a huge success, honored with a Rockefeller Innovation Nomination and was unveiled by Mayor Gray of DC himself.
Well this year they want to go further.
On Sunday, June 9th, from 5-9PM, DC Action will be gathering with last year's team to do a mini-DataDive in preparation for KIDS COUNT 2.0. We're looking for data scientists, coders, and analysts who want to help DC's children to come down and brainstorm new approaches to measuring child wellbeing and to add in new streams of financial data.
If you want to come pitch in, sign up here. While the Sunday party will focus on generating new ideas and reimagining this year's KIDS COUNT, the hope is that some intrepid data scientists will stay on to see the project through to its unveiling in October.
Email grubi...@dckids.org if you have any questions and, otherwise, hope to see you all there!
Best, The DataKind Team
