Hi All.
I have noticed that the dynamic/ordinary selection tool in the 2D section views is not very sensitive at small scales.
For example, if a given area maybe 5km across is cluttered with orientation or contact data, trying to edit a point or line by highlighting and right clicking can be awkward or impossible as the wrong points or lines keep getting highlighted instead.
Maybe this partly is scale-dependent? Eg if you have a 1:100k grid (50x50kms approx) and you zoom beyond a certain area.
But in general if you have this kind of situation:
-| |- |-
You might be able to select the outer two orientation points but not the middle one.
The other annoyance of this scenario is that when you are zoomed in on an area with lots of data and modelled geology lines are present and you want to clear them, or just want to access the main menu by right clicking, some data object (if dynamic selection is ticked on (this is handy to leave on most of the time!)) is always highlighted, so you have to zoom back to the full extents and find some empty area to click in.
Is there a way of getting around this that I have not discovered? (I have tried a few things!)
Or perhaps this could be looked at in future releases?
A drawn selection box around an object(s) could be the way to go.
Cheers
MZ

The 'selection' WAS a persistent problem ... but I am happy to say that
it is fixed in the development build that I have been testing just
before Easter and again today. I have been using Build78 from mid-last
week ... I will advise when this (or a more recent Build) has been
posted to our FTP site.
Re the second part of the problem ... yes, the 'auto-selected' points
can be a problem ... leading to the wrong menu opening with a
right-mouse click ...
Comments:
- the problem should now go away; 'selections' only occur when the
mouse is within a specified number of pixels from a point
... so - when zoomed-in, there should be wide spaces (between data)
within which no 'selection' is activated, allowing the main menu to
pop-up
- in general, our aim is to provide multiple 'pathways' to all
operations ... so those operations which are in a 2D-Viewer's
right-mouse-pop-up-menu should ALSO be available in other ways ... such
as via a toolbar button or the MAIN menu. This may not yet be the case
... but the systematic review of the entire GUI interface being
undertaken by James Parsons over the last several months has
progressively been implementing these 'multiple-options'.
Best regards, Phil
