Hello,
I have a few newbie questions, I'd appreciate any input.

I'm trying to import some interfaces for which I have depth grids
(geosoft binary, xyz etc.). I have so far used the CSV import wizard
to import interface and orientation data for basic layers. When I do
this for an actual model, the import wizard crashes at 99% of file
read. The files are sizable but not obscenely big, they are 1500x1500
point grids. I'm using 1.3.1 built in May 2010, seems like I might
have an out of date version?

Is the CSV import wizard the only way to get 3D data into geomodeller?

I notice the topography can be read in as a geosoft grd, can I do the
same for geology interfaces somehow?

Am I up against some limit, if so what is it and how far do I need to
sub-sample?

Best regards

David

Hello David.

Definitely the first thing you should do is get the latest version of the software - there is no point analyzing and solving a problem in an old version of the software.

My first reaction was to go to the GeoModeller website ...

http://www.geomodeller.com/geo/index.php?lang=EN&menu=homepage

... and then navigate to the downloads section. However, I see that the version that is available there is v1.3.2 ...

ftp://ftp2.intrepid-geophysics.com/geomodeller/GeoModeller_Software/v1.3/GeoModeller-1.3.293-WIN32_x86.msi

If you/Shell are meant to have access to v2.??, which is where GeoModeller is up to (as of the November 2011 User Meeting), then you should contact Intrepid Geophysics to arrange access. Version 2 is a significantly different (better) version, which too many updates and changes to mention here.

And to Intrepid Geophysics - UPDATE THE DOWNLOADS SECTION OF THE GEOMODELLER WEBSITE

Hi Richard,
Thanks for your comments. Intrepid informed me that this was the latest version of the software. There must have been some confusion, I'll attempt to get the latest version...

Best regards

David

Hi David,

Try to open the binary file and check if there is any undefine number
you may find in the bottom of the file.

Good luck ..

Thanks for your suggestion, Abdulgani.

David, I would still advise updating the GeoModeller software before
getting too carried away with any analysis etc.

The CSV file that you have prepared for import is an ASCII file which
is much easier to examine than a binary file. Abdulghani's comment is
still, however, relevant - if, after updating the software, you still
have problems, you might check the bottom of the file to see if there
is an extra <CR> or other form of incomplete record.
