I'm in the learning phase of Sketchpad where I'm starting to get some
creative ideas for doing things but am not yet completely comfortable
at creating my own tools. I'm trying to build some lessons for
arithmetic and geometric series and would like to know if anyone has
done any work on these topics with regard to sketchpad.
Thanks

Hi,

There are five activities devoted to sequences and series in the activity book Exploring Precalculus with The Geometer's Sketchpad, also available on Sketchpad LessonLink. (In one students generate both arithmetic and geometric sequences numerically. Three provide various area models for geometric series, and the last involves constructing a Taylor series to approximate the sine function.)

If you're just getting started with iteration in Sketchpad, I'd recommend looking at the sketch on How to Iterate. It's installed with Sketchpad, in the Samples | HowTo folder. This sketch will lead you through the process of building several arithmetic sequences and the Fibonacci sequence.

Happy sketching,
-Scott
