I have committed some code (SVN revision 405) that adds a menu item
allowing the user to turn the GPS on or off, depending upon its
current state. Since the android platform does not allow an
application to directly control this, what GeoHunter does is launch
the "Location and security settings" screen directly, where the user
can turn the GPS on or off and return directly to GeoHunter.

If you want to grab the source and build it yourself for testing, I
would appreciate feedback about the feature. When Anders has the time,
perhaps he could build a new preview version and post it on the
project page.

I built and installed this. My initial tests are positive: the new menu entry appears to behave as intended.

I tested on an HTC Desire running Gingerbread.

Cheers.

Ok, here's preview 1.9.8.

I changed the code slightly to let StaticLabelMenu remain static.
If there are many options like this one, we should use the existing 'settings' screen or make a custom one to avoid the regular menu to overflow.
